Surf Air appoints Jason Secore as CFO, replacing Oliver Reeves

Secore, previously CFO of aviation tech company Matternet, takes the role effective September 30 as Reeves steps down after three years.

Surf Air Mobility has appointed Jason Secore as its new Chief Financial Officer, effective September 30, according to Private Jet Card Comparisons. Secore replaces Oliver Reeves, who is stepping down after three years in the role.

Secore was previously Chief Financial Officer of Matternet, an aviation tech company based in California. Before that, per his LinkedIn profile, he held various executive finance roles at finance and aviation companies dating back to 2008.

Reeves joined Surf Air in late 2023, a few months after the company went public in August 2023. Per an SEC filing, he will remain a paid advisor to Surf Air for one year.

The appointment

Surf Air Chief Executive Deanna White said that Secore's background in capital markets and aircraft financing, combined with his aviation operating experience, positions him to strengthen the company's financial operations. "Jason's background in capital markets and aircraft financing," White said, "combined with his aviation operating experience, gives him an in-depth, practical understanding of both Surf Air Mobility's airline operations and software businesses."

White continued: "We are confident he will strengthen our financial operations as we continue our path to profitability across SurfOS, our scheduled airline, and Surf On Demand private charter."

In a press release, Secore said: "I look forward to working with the team. And bringing my background in public-company finance, investor relations, capital markets, and aviation operations to help strengthen financial execution, support disciplined growth, and build long-term shareholder value."

Reeves said in a statement: "I am grateful for my time at Surf Air Mobility. And the opportunity to work with an incredibly dedicated and talented team focused on transforming the future of flight. I look forward to continuing my relationship with the company as an advisor." Per the Surf Air press release, Reeves is stepping down to pursue other opportunities.
