Volato rebrands as SOAR AI following shift to AI infrastructure

The former private aviation operator, which exited jet cards and fractional ownership in 2024, is now focused on building AI infrastructure and has secured $1.2 billion in contracted customer demand.

Volato Group will rebrand as SOAR AI, reflecting an operational pivot away from private aviation and toward AI infrastructure. The name change takes effect on 19 October, and the company will continue trading under its existing stock market ticker symbol, SOAR.

According to Private Jet Card Comparisons, the rebrand follows a merger with Alignment Engine and marks a shift in the company's strategic focus. The Volato Group, which still owns the empty-leg membership programme Vaunt, has secured $1.2 billion of contracted customer demand for its AI infrastructure services.

The infrastructure strategy

Chris Ensey, CEO of Volato Group, said in a press release that "the SOAR AI identity better represents the company we are building today and where we are going". SOAR stands for Sovereign AI Resources, a name Ensey said "reflects our strategy of giving customers greater control over their AI infrastructure while working responsibly with the communities where we operate".

The company is actively constructing AI infrastructure in Ohio, including power and cooling systems and high-density GPU systems. Ensey stated: "We are actively constructing AI infrastructure in Ohio, have secured $1.2 billion of contracted customer demand, and are pursuing additional customers for our available and planned capacity. At the same time, we are evaluating additional data center opportunities in the United States and internationally."

Volato previously offered AI systems for aircraft operators, for scheduling and dispatching, maintenance operations, and customer service. The rebrand aims to consolidate these initiatives under a single corporate identity that reflects its long-term infrastructure strategy.

The pivot from aviation

Volato launched in 2021 offering fractional ownership on the HondaJet and quickly added jet cards. By 2023, the company ranked as the 16th-largest U.S. private jet operator based on fractional and charter flight hours. It also launched the Vaunt empty-leg programme.

In September 2024, Volato exited its fractional and jet card programmes amid legal disputes. It has since sold most of its remaining aviation assets to FlyExclusive. Last month, the two companies extended their option for FlyExclusive to buy Vaunt, and Volato retains ownership of that membership programme.

The company will transition its corporate communications and digital presence to SOAR AI, including its recently launched corporate website.
