Tradewind Aviation is expanding its scheduled South Florida-Bahamas service with daily nonstop flights between Fort Lauderdale and Nassau, launching December 10, according to Private Jet Card Comparisons.

Flights will depart from the Sheltair FBO at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and arrive at Lynden-Pindling International Airport on New Providence Island. The service will operate year-round with fares starting at $299 one-way, plus taxes and fees. This pricing matches Tradewind's existing Stuart-to-Nassau route, which runs daily once from Thursday to Monday year-round.

Expansion of established route

The Fort Lauderdale service expands Tradewind's existing Bahamas network. David Zipkin, Tradewind chief operating officer, said that "the remarkable growth of our scheduled service to the Bahamas has exceeded expectations," and that it was "demonstrating the significant appetite for a more seamless alternative to commercial air travel."

Zipkin added: "the sustained response has fueled our expansion, with the addition of Fort Lauderdale service to Nassau marking a milestone in the growth of our network. By introducing daily, year-round service we are taking a step forward in matching high demand with the comfort and convenience that set Tradewind apart."

Tradewind operates Pilatus PC-12 turboprops, which seat up to eight passengers. The reporting does not say how many aircraft Tradewind will deploy on the Fort Lauderdale-Nassau route, or whether the new flights will require additional aircraft beyond those serving the Stuart route.

Market implications

The expansion reflects what Zipkin described as strong demand for scheduled service to the Bahamas. For customers currently using Tradewind's Stuart route, the new Fort Lauderdale departure point offers an alternative origin point at comparable pricing. The reporting does not say whether existing Stuart-route customers will be able to switch to Fort Lauderdale service, or what changes, if any, apply to their bookings.

For business travellers choosing between commercial carriers and scheduled turboprop service to Nassau, the daily Fort Lauderdale option removes a routing constraint compared to the existing Stuart service, which operates only Thursday to Monday. Whether this flexibility justifies the $299 fare over commercial alternatives depends on connection times and total travel cost to a passenger's final destination, which the reporting does not address.
