Jet Mentis Academy launches self-paced charter broker training programme

The new curriculum covers regulatory compliance and operational distinctions for brokers entering an unregulated sector.

Jet Mentis Partners has opened enrollment for the Jet Mentis Charter Foundation, a self-paced professional education programme designed for individuals entering aircraft charter brokerage without prior aviation experience, according to General Aviation News.

In the United States, neither the FAA nor the Department of Transportation requires licensing, certification, or formal training for charter brokers, despite federal disclosure and refund rules governed by 14 CFR Part 295. Consequently, most brokers learn operational compliance on the job, according to company officials.

The 14-module curriculum covers aviation fundamentals, operational distinctions between Part 91 and Part 135 flights, broker responsibilities, quote development, operator relations, and client management. The programme includes module examinations, a practical capstone project, weekly live sessions, and reference materials.

Adam R. Juckett, founder and president of Jet Mentis Partners, said "Every flight has to pass two questions: Is it safe? Is it legal?" and added "Just because a trip is safe doesn't make it legal, and just because it's legal doesn't make it safe. New brokers usually learn that the hard way, on a real client's trip. The foundation is built so they learn it first."

While the coursework is strictly professional education rather than a formal certification, company officials noted it helps prepare students seeking to pursue the independent Jet Mentis Certified Broker credential.

For charter brokers considering enrolment, General Aviation News did not report what the programme costs, how long it takes to complete, whether completion affects pricing or access to aircraft, or when the first cohort will begin. The reporting does not say whether existing brokers or those already employed at charter operators can enrol, or what qualifications or experience, if any, the programme requires for entry.

General Aviation News also did not disclose whether the foundation is accredited by any aviation authority, what happens after a student completes the modules, or whether completion is required before pursuing the Jet Mentis Certified Broker credential.
