Monarch Air distributes 150 hurricane preparedness kits in Broward County
The Florida charter broker's second annual giveaway, held on 19 September, partnered with the Lauderhill Boys & Girls Club and American Red Cross.
Monarch Air Group, a Florida-based charter broker, distributed 150 hurricane preparedness kits at its second annual Hurricane Preparedness Kit Giveaway on 19 September 2026, according to Private Jet Card Comparisons.
The event took place in partnership with the Lauderhill Boys & Girls Club and with support from the American Red Cross. Each kit included first aid supplies, canned food, bottled water, portable phone chargers, and flashlights.
The event and its expansion
David Gitman, Monarch Air's chief executive, said the event expanded from the previous year. "Last year's event had a great turnout," he told Private Jet Card Comparisons. "And we decided to go have an even larger giveaway this year." Gitman continued: "Thanks to our friends at the Red Cross and the Boys and Girls club, as well as extensive coverage by the local news, we had an even larger turnout this year."
Carlene Manning, a local resident who attended, said in an interview with CBS News Miami that she was grateful for the organisation's support. "We are so glad that we can get help wherever we can," Manning said. "So I am so glad for this organization to be helping out the community."
Timing and context
The giveaway occurred during Florida's peak hurricane season, which runs from mid-August to late October. During this period, warmer sea surface temperatures and reduced wind shear make it easier for hurricanes to form.
Private Jet Card Comparisons noted that this is not the first time jet companies have joined in hurricane relief efforts, citing the National Business Aviation Association's response to Hurricane Melissa as an example of aviation industry involvement in such initiatives.
Industry response to disasters
The participation of aviation companies in community preparedness reflects a broader pattern of industry involvement in hurricane response. Monarch Air's giveaway demonstrates how charter operators and aviation firms can contribute to community resilience during peak seasonal risk periods, when families in hurricane-prone regions prepare for the threat of severe weather.
